Do you know the feeling of "love at first sight"? That's what I instantly felt when I saw this drawing. It's simple and a bit dull, but the look on Aki's eyes and the overall mood of the story scores BIG to me. Honestly, this is what Aki and Mifuyu is all about. It's really very sad that this wonderful artwork couldn't get a place as a winner, but this is still my very fave among the entries!

Fifth Place:

A nice composition of elements and a very serene and tranquil mood. Normally, you wouldn't see the two in this kind of situation, but Mifuyu looks so peaceful in her slumber and the way Aki caresses her hair and looks out for her is just so adorable! The glassy effect of the backdrop is also very well made. However, what made this a 5th place is because of Aki's expression. He lacks his usual sharp and cat-like looks. Still, it's a very good drawing!


Fourth Place:

Undoubtedly, this drawing has the best-looking Mifuyu ever! She did an even better job than me, and that's coming from the official character designer! XD We, the judges -slash- Fine Arts students have always been more fascinated with traditional art than digital, and this one is no exception. However, we've also agreed that despite the cuteness of this picture, Aki and Mifuyu look more like siblings teasing each other. It lacks the notion that when you look at it, you'd actually think of it as a drawing that definitely and firmly depicts "Unspoken Love" and no other. But like I said, it has the best-looking characters drawn, and so, we ALL love it!


Third Place:

We love the unique way this artwork has been drawn and colored. It has a Western feel to it, but the artist is still able to retain the looks that the characters originally have. The interpretation may be simple and common, but the way of presentation is astounding! With their backs turned against each other, their uneasy actions betraying the blank expression on their faces, and the eyes! Yes, yes. Stolen hopeful glances = GENIUS! Also, a very good job for the clothes! ^^ Mifuyu looks like an endorser or promo girl for a certain strawberry-flavored product, but it's still so uber cute!


Second Place:

The moment we saw this drawing, =chryztal and I went to fangirl mode! Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is just so remarkably made, and we're really thankful to the artist for putting so much effort into the drawing. Out of all the entries, we're really proud to say that THIS is in fact, the best drawing. The soft, watercolor-like colors, the rich texture and the wonderfully laid out elements... And the Sakura!! We love Sakura!! XD It has a bit of a problem with the perspective, but we don't mind. Still, what makes it 2nd place is that the drawing generally lacks the feel of "Unspoken Love". You feel joy and lightheartedness in it, but not the sought after theme, and the pretty colors and smiling couple wouldn't make up for it.


First Place:

When this was submitted last Aug. 29, 2008, we seriously believed that this would be the winner. Then, other wonderful entries were made, but this one still reigned supreme above all. The moment I first laid eyes on this artwork, I was seriously awed, and I couldn't stop looking at it. It didn't make me go into fangirl mode, but it did make me speechless. This drawing struck me THAT hard, and no other entry was able to do that to me after this one. Looking at it, you'll smile at the softness of its color, but when you stare at the eyes, you'll drown. Yes, it was the eyes, people. There were no words involved, but their eyes speak of many unspoken words and feelings--from uncertainty, to attraction, to security, to trust and to love... They are drowning at each other's stares, and you can't help but drown along with them and feel suffocated. Yes, Aki's arm seems to be too long and a bit dislocated because of the placement of muscles, but it would take you quite a while to realize that because you were too busy staring at their eyes. I know I did! XD This drawing is THAT good. Words and descriptions aren't needed anymore for this, because this drawing has already perfectly captured the emotions I've long put into Aki and Mifuyu. And for that, it's a win!
